This years Brendan Kennelly Poetry Competition was a great success, attracting entrants from all over the world. The calibre of the entries was very high and judges Jo O’Donoghue and Paddy Bushe were very impressed with the standard. The results were announced at our festival opening ceremony, where the winners read their poems to a packed audience.
First place went to Jim Maguire with “Music Room”. The two runners-up were Roisin Tierney for her entry “Gothic” and John O’Donnell for “Hoppers”.
We would like to thank everyone that entered and look forward to seeing your submissions for next year’s competition.
